Combining Environmental Education on Your Lesson Plan!

Environmental education has to be combined in all aspect since it is good to start to form our world view and many of our habits. Environmental education at school should be taught even to our youngest students. They begin to understand how their individual actions can save the environment. Even young children can learn to take personal responsibility for the preservation and restoration of our environment.

Of course, toddler neither is nor suggested to have depth discussion about global warming and how the emissions of our cars contribute to it. That will be too difficult for them to understand. Therefore, environment education for them should be about how to turn off the water while brushing their teeth, pick up litter that they might have dropped, and even to pick up other litter. They can learn to appreciate and protect the environment more fully by simple activities. Most teachers will combine environmental education into his or her plan.

Environmental Kids Activities

The spirit of loving environment is growing higher nowadays. It is not only for adults but also for kids especially those who live in big city, or even suburbs. As parents, you may do many things with your kids or even with the all people surround you. Some activities will reconnect you with nature and our environment.

It can begin with hiking on the weekend. This activity will take your kids back to nature. Moreover, you can suggest them to pick out a favorite tree in a park or forest and adopt it. Your child will take on the role of being the tree’s caretaker. Do bark rubbings with crayons and paper; leaf collection and pressing in the fall; and look for flowers and fruit in the summer. Each year, take pictures of your child standing beside the tree.

Decreasing Environmental Problems

It is our duty to prepare the younger generation to enjoy a brighter future. Indeed, this includes preparing good environment and fixing problems created by generations before. But of course, you can’t expect that today’s younger generation will respect the environment in future years if you do not change their way of thinking. Parents and teachers should develop environmentally conscious way of thinking. Many daily activities may be included such as recycling, energy conservation and waste management. Children need to grow up knowing that they can make a big difference in their daily routine. But there is even more you can do to teach youngsters about preserving the planet – and the opportunities are increasing by the day.

Educator and environmental experts have designed many education programs to educate children and young adults about the current environmental issues. They also created a list of skill sets which are needed to answers and devise solutions for the future. From in-class curriculum and clubs to after school activities, there are many opportunities for teachers and school officials to implement programs in the classroom.
